SOOO! I figured out it. First of all, I remembered that the scene I had in my head - the interior of a house morphing into forested wilderness - was from Where the Wild Things Are. So that's cool. SECOND, I CHOSE THE DAMN POEM. And Natalia gave me the okay and she's excited too, as she so often is, which is one of her best personal qualities.
It's going to be a whole scene that represents a poem. (This works far better than singular objects or apparel, because of course the emotional heft of a poem is by nature very difficult to contain within a thing.) The poem is "Again and again, however we know the language of love" by Rilke. It's been the "about me" section on my facebook page for at least two years now. Time to use it for something real, I guess.
