Here I am, embarking upon a semester-long exercise in procrastination, self-doubt, and eventually (fingers crossed) the creation of something others will find worth looking at. We have been instructed to create a blog to track our progess and respective inner monologues. This is that blog.
The goals of the next few weeks are three: 1) Decide how much my project needs to change in order to satisfy my tastes and yield a positive end result; 2) Figure out who can "mentor" me amidst a sea of creative uncertainty; and 3), bust out some sweet sketches. I'm excited to visit the RE-store in Ballard and check out used building materials. Repurposing could be a really fun aspect to this project - I don't want to shove it in all y'all's faces, but it's something that's exciting to me.
Natalia and I spoke about my project during class. Not sure what it is, but I always seem to have some flash of actual brilliance while spouting what starts out as utter BS. Anyway, I'm restructuring my end result a bit. I'm now thinking in terms of a "lifestyle" window display-esque final product that incorporates poetry and metaphor in every aspect. Light fixture! Chair! Dress form! Carpet??? Something else. I feel like I need a 4th element. Ooh, DRAPES!
I can't wait to visit the RE-store. That's all.
